CARDIOVASCULAR
Triglycerides
Also known as TG
What it is
Triglycerides are the main fat-carrying lipid in the blood. Elevated triglycerides accompany insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome.
Why it matters
Triglycerides are a sensitive marker of metabolic and dietary state. Very high triglycerides also carry acute pancreatitis risk.
Range GPLX watches for
GPLX generally targets triglycerides below 100 mg/dL in symptomatic patients. The lab reference is wider but the metabolic goal is tighter.
This educational range is not a personal diagnostic threshold. Your physician interprets your result in context of your full biomarker panel, medications, symptoms, and history.
What abnormal values can suggest
If low
A low triglyceride value is generally favorable but can accompany malnutrition or malabsorption.
If high
A high triglyceride value can suggest insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, alcohol use, or genetic lipid disorders.
This marker is reviewed when clinically appropriate as part of physician-directed labs. Membership is $39.99/month; consultation is $30.
