Complete Blood Count

Also known as CBC

What it is

The complete blood count measures the cellular components of blood: red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and red-cell indices. It is one of the most fundamental tests in medicine.

Why it matters

The CBC is a safety cornerstone for testosterone and peptide therapies, which can raise hematocrit. It also screens for anemia, infection, inflammation, and marrow disorders. GPLX runs a CBC on every intake and repeats it quarterly on therapy.

Range GPLX watches for

Each CBC component has its own reference range. GPLX watches hematocrit closely on testosterone therapy (target under 52%), monitors white blood cells for infection or inflammation, and tracks platelets for safety. Your physician interprets the full CBC in context.

This educational range is not a personal diagnostic threshold. Your physician interprets your result in context of your full biomarker panel, medications, symptoms, and history.

What abnormal values can suggest

If low

Low CBC values can point to anemia, blood loss, nutritional deficiencies (iron, B12, folate), marrow suppression, or chronic disease.

If high

High CBC values can point to dehydration, testosterone-driven erythrocytosis, infection, inflammation, or, rarely, primary marrow disorders. Elevated hematocrit on testosterone therapy is the most common reason to dose-adjust.

This marker is reviewed when clinically appropriate as part of physician-directed labs. Membership is $39.99/month; consultation is $30.
